Since 1982 Joel has performed regularly as a blues guitarist and vocalist. During the mid-1980s, he performed full time, accompanying artists such as Albert Collins, Sonny Rhodes, Charles Brown, Wayne Bennett, Mel Brown, Smokey Wilson, Harmonica Slim, poet Allen Ginsberg and others. During the same period, Joel also produced two annual blues festivals and numerous small venue concerts featuring artists such as John Lee Hooker, Brownie McGhee, Robert Cray, Joe Liggins Honeydrippers, Charles Brown, and more. The images in this gallery were taken during those years.
